PRODUCT CREATIVE / PRODUCTION AND HANDOFF

Why can I edit a MOGRT title but not replace its product photo or logo?

An editable title does not establish an editable product-photo slot. Identify the exact image or logo you need to change, then check whether the template author made that layer replaceable. A Premiere template and multiple After Effects instances need different preparation, even when they share the same design.

01 / WHY CAN I EDIT A MOGRT TITLE BUT NOT REPLACE ITS PRODUCT PHOTO OR LOGO?

Find the intended media control

Adobe's authoring method exposes a target layer by dragging it into Essential Graphics. Image and video layers, including Photoshop and Illustrator files, are supported. Media Replacement does not work with MOGRTs requiring Dynamic Link.

Start with the merchant's actual change: replacing a seasonal product photograph, changing a campaign logo, or simply editing a headline. These can be separate objects. A template may deliberately keep its brand mark fixed while allowing copy changes; typing a new title does not reveal what the author permitted elsewhere.

Inspect the supplied template rather than renaming the product file or searching its text controls for an image setting. If the required media control is absent, resolve that authoring requirement before preparing a whole SKU series.

02 / WHY CAN I EDIT A MOGRT TITLE BUT NOT REPLACE ITS PRODUCT PHOTO OR LOGO?

Illustrative exercise A: a Premiere editor changes the product

A fictional mug campaign needs the same animated card for a tall mug and a short mug. The Premiere editor can change the headline but finds no product-media control. Ask the author to expose the intended layer and supply a suitable template, then check that actual template in the intended application.

Use noticeably different product shapes for this check. Compare handle visibility, lid clearance and the product's relationship to the price text throughout the animation. A replacement that fits the first frame may still be hidden by a moving mask later.

Keep the approved logo unchanged unless that is part of the request. If the template needs a production route incompatible with Media Replacement, choose another suitable construction rather than promising that every effect or third-party plug-in will transfer.

After exposing the intended media, the template author must export the actual .mogrt delivery and check that Premiere receives that version. An edit made only in the authoring project does not establish that a previously delivered template contains the new control.

03 / WHY CAN I EDIT A MOGRT TITLE BUT NOT REPLACE ITS PRODUCT PHOTO OR LOGO?

Illustrative exercise B: replace one After Effects instance

For AE variants, expose the media layer, nest the composition, then expand Essential Properties. Drag the intended Project-panel media onto the exposed media control; the blue thumbnail outline is the documented target feedback. Double-click the media in the timeline to open the precomp for editing that instance.

A second fictional campaign compares two bottle sizes side by side. Replace the intended instance and inspect both placements: the large bottle should change where requested while the other remains the correct SKU. Keep this local request distinct from a project-wide Replace Footage operation.

Choose the actual approved bottle image, not a similar thumbnail. Inspect label identity and scale cues as well as framing; making two containers occupy identical boxes can conceal a meaningful size difference.

04 / WHY CAN I EDIT A MOGRT TITLE BUT NOT REPLACE ITS PRODUCT PHOTO OR LOGO?

Check the replacement through the moving layout

Watch the entrance, middle and exit as a continuous passage. Look for cropped handles, disappearing marks, unexpected empty borders and text crossing the new product. Treat a changed crop as a design decision, not proof that the replacement failed technically.

The examples are illustrative exercises. No AE or Premiere account operation, generation, rendering, export or audio-listening test was performed, and no Itemlume integration is claimed.

Illustrative exercise: Premiere template consumption versus AE instance variants

These are illustrative exercise rows. Save a copy and record your own observations; the example is not an executed acceptance test.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions

Does an editable title mean every picture in a MOGRT is replaceable?

No. Check the intended media control and its authoring. Text editability alone does not establish replaceable product or logo layers.

Should I replace the project footage to change one SKU instance?

Keep a local instance request on the instance's exposed Essential Properties. Do not substitute a broader project-footage operation without deciding that broader scope is intended.
