PRODUCT CREATIVE / PRODUCTION AND HANDOFF

Why can’t I set when my product-offer badge appears in Canva Page Mode?

Page Mode does not provide element timing controls. To make a product-offer badge appear only during a particular shot, use Video Timeline where available. Adjust the element's left and right handles to set its visible interval; move the entire timing block to reposition it without changing its duration. Animate controls how the badge enters or exits, not the full interval during which it appears.

01 / WHY CAN’T I SET WHEN MY PRODUCT-OFFER BADGE APPEARS IN CANVA PAGE MODE?

Identify whether the problem is timing or animation

A merchant may create a product demonstration with an introductory shot, a feature close-up, and a final offer. The price badge should appear only during the feature close-up, yet it remains visible throughout the page.

Before adjusting effects, identify the editing mode. Canva's Page Mode does not expose element timing controls. In the documented newer video workflow, the page thumbnail's pencil control can open Video Timeline.

Existing designs may retain a different structure. Confirm the available route in the actual editor; the current help page contains both rollout and new-design-standard language, so it should not be read as a guarantee that every account or older project has an identical interface.

Ask two separate questions: when should the badge exist on screen, and how should it appear or disappear? The first concerns its timeline interval. The second concerns animation.

02 / WHY CAN’T I SET WHEN MY PRODUCT-OFFER BADGE APPEARS IN CANVA PAGE MODE?

Set the badge's visible interval

In Video Timeline, the main track organizes the primary video material without gaps between its clips. Upper tracks can hold overlapping elements such as a product name, promotional badge, or supporting graphic.

A badge that must appear over an existing product shot is a typical upper-track element, although not every advertisement needs an overlay.

Adjust the left handle to change when the element begins and the right handle to change when it ends. Dragging the entire timing block shifts its position while preserving its duration.

For example, if the offer belongs only to a product close-up, align the badge's interval with that section rather than stretching it across the introduction and closing scene.

Do not rearrange the main product footage merely to compensate for an incorrectly timed badge.

Follow Canva's video timing instructions for the Page Mode boundary, timeline handles and Animate distinction.

03 / WHY CAN’T I SET WHEN MY PRODUCT-OFFER BADGE APPEARS IN CANVA PAGE MODE?

Illustrative exercise: two different corrections

Illustrative exercise — fictional scenarios, not executed editing or playback tests. A is an appliance ad whose badge should appear only during the middle demonstration. B is a fragrance ad whose badge already occupies the intended interval but enters too slowly.

For A, compare the target shot boundaries with the element's timeline handles where available. For B, inspect the available Animate controls while preserving the intended interval. Record actual settings and observations below rather than treating the examples as completed tests.

04 / WHY CAN’T I SET WHEN MY PRODUCT-OFFER BADGE APPEARS IN CANVA PAGE MODE?

Review interval and movement separately

Prepare two checks for every timed promotional element. First, confirm that it begins and ends during the intended product footage. Second, review its entrance and exit behavior.

If the badge appears too early or remains too long, inspect its timeline handles. If it occupies the correct interval but enters too slowly, inspect Animate.

Preserve the existing video's structure when only an overlay needs adjustment. Avoid changing approved product footage or implying that Canva automatically updates promotional prices.

Stop when the requested element timing controls are unavailable in the current editing mode. Confirm the supported editor route before rebuilding the advertisement.

The intended result is a clear relationship between the offer and the relevant product shot, without confusing visibility duration with animation speed.

If the element is meant to carry speech text, also distinguish a caption track from a visual overlay.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions

Can Animate make my price badge appear only during the middle shot?

Animate controls entrance and exit behavior. Use element timing in Video Timeline to define the complete visible interval.

What is the difference between dragging the badge block and dragging its handles?

Dragging the whole block moves its timing position without changing duration. The left and right handles adjust its start and end.
