Assets & tasks / PRACTICAL CHECK
How to check that a downloaded creative matches the approved preview
Match the downloaded file to the actual approved result before editing or publishing it. A familiar product and a filename ending in final are insufficient when several similar outputs exist. Check identity, composition and delivery properties first, then inspect the file at its intended use; successful retrieval is separate from creative approval.
Choose an approval reference you can identify
Record which result was approved, for which SKU and for what purpose. Keep a review image or clear note identifying recognizable features, such as the product’s angle, label position and background. A broad statement that the blue version looks good does not identify one result when several blue products or multiple revisions are present.
In an illustrative headphone launch, the approved preview shows the current gray model with the left earcup facing the camera. Another attractive output shows the right earcup and an older badge. Both may appear similar in a small grid. Identify the selected result before downloading, then keep its reference beside the retrieved file.
Compare the actual file before changing it
Open the completed download and compare the same visible features with the approval reference. Check product edition, orientation, included objects, crop and background. For video, compare the opening, ending and any specifically approved action. Perform this check on the unmodified source so a new crop or export does not obscure where a mismatch originated.
Keep preview scale in mind. A small thumbnail and a full-resolution source are not expected to look equally detailed, but they should show the same selected composition and product. If a label differs, confirm that you chose the same result rather than concluding that the preview merely smoothed it. Preserve the first downloaded file while resolving the question.
Classify the mismatch
| Observation | Likely investigation | Approval consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Different angle, object or background | Selected result and revision identity | Do not transfer approval to the wrong output |
| File will not fully open or play | Completion of retrieval and suitable viewer | Content remains unreviewed |
| Correct source, wrong edited crop | External derivative and export settings | Review the derivative separately |
| Same picture, unexpected dimensions | Actual file properties and destination needs | Resolve delivery before publishing |
These routes are starting points, not automatic diagnoses. Record what you observed and compare with the relevant file or result before choosing a replacement.
Check delivery properties without inferring identity from them
Confirm the actual pixel dimensions, aspect ratio and file type through a suitable viewer or editor. A changed filename extension does not change the file’s format. For video, inspect the duration and retained beginning and ending. A file that meets a destination’s technical limits can still be the wrong creative or contain an inaccurate product.
An editor can export a reference still from an exact video frame; Adobe documents this frame-export operation. Use an identifiable source position when comparing a video with its approval record. A still reference supports the match at that point only, so it cannot replace review of the full delivered motion.
Attach approval to the verified deliverable
Once the file matches, record its actual filename and intended role, such as approved clean headphone source. Keep the external captioned or cropped version separate and review it again. New text, audio, compression and framing can alter the final message even when the original download was the correct one.
If retrieval produced a mismatch, resolve selection or delivery before purchasing another generation. Give support or the editor the relevant result reference, file properties and observed difference, without unrelated private material. Itemlume completion provides an output to review; the merchant’s release decision should follow verification of the file that will actually be used.

Frequently asked questions
Can a filename prove that a file is the approved version?
No. Match recognizable content and the selected result, then record the verified filename.
Does a high-resolution download need another check?
Yes. Correct size does not establish product identity, creative version or publication suitability.
Should I regenerate after downloading the wrong result?
First resolve result selection or retrieval. A new generation does not correct a mistaken download.
