Product images / SCENARIO GUIDE
How to show furniture scale without misleading room imagery
Use verified dimensions for scale information and a room scene for context. An AI-generated sofa beside a table does not establish either object’s real size. Keep a separate measured specification image when shoppers need to decide whether an item fits their space.
Define the item and what is included
A side table photograph should establish the tabletop shape, leg arrangement, finish and exact configuration. A room reference adds atmosphere but cannot supply missing construction. If you sell one table rather than a nested pair, record that fact and remove the second table from the planned scene.
Prepare a simple reference showing the whole piece, plus a detail for joinery or a distinctive texture. Keep dimensions in your own verified product record. Do not estimate width from a person, a window or a perspective rendering; each can be generated at an arbitrary apparent scale.
Separate three shopper questions
| Question | Useful asset | What it cannot prove |
|---|---|---|
| What is the product? | Unobstructed full view | Comfort or load capacity |
| Where could it be used? | Simple room context | Exact fit in a customer’s room |
| How large is it? | Verified measurement diagram | Scale inferred from generated props |
For a compact desk, a scene can show the intended activity without claiming that a particular laptop or chair will fit. Where clearance matters, provide actual dimensions and installation requirements from the product specification.
Build a restrained room brief
- In Product images, upload views of the precise furniture variant.
- Choose one real use context, such as a side table beside a reading chair.
- Specify the finish and visible construction that must remain unchanged; identify decorative props as props.
- Create one scene and compare proportions, contact and assembly before expanding the series.
Keep the camera low enough to show legs and high enough to make the surface intelligible. Avoid asking for a hidden rear angle when there is no source evidence for it. A more believable invented back is still an invented part of the product.
Approve the object before the interior
Count supports, inspect their connection to the tabletop and check whether the piece sits on the floor. Look for upholstery seams that move, wood grain that changes material, or a cabinet door that appears on the wrong side. Then review whether props obscure the object or make it look much larger than expected.
For publication, pair the context image with dimensions and a clear statement of included components. Keep installation, safety and weight-capacity claims in the verified product documentation. Itemlume makes creative imagery; it does not calculate room fit, structural performance or customer-specific installation suitability.

Frequently asked questions
Can an AI room show the exact size of a sofa?
No. Use verified measurements and a scale diagram. A generated room is visual context rather than a dimensional simulation.
Should I include a person for scale?
A person can make a scene familiar, but their generated proportions do not prove product size. Keep actual measurements available.
Can Itemlume place the item in a customer’s room precisely?
The current workflow does not provide a measured room-planning or augmented-reality fit tool.
