Logo studio / QUESTION GUIDE
How do you preserve accents and special characters in a brand logo?
Keep one approved text spelling of the brand and verify every accented or special character in the final artwork. A visually similar replacement may be a different character, and an exported image cannot confirm what is stored in an editable file. Review the written name and the drawn letterforms separately.
Establish the authoritative name
Obtain the approved brand spelling from the owner, including capitalization and accents. Do not normalize it into plain English merely because a tool has difficulty drawing a character. Record an authorized alternate spelling only when the brand actually uses one for a specific context.
For an illustrative café brand with an accented final letter, the accent is part of the approved name. A decorative mark floating elsewhere above the word is not necessarily the same letterform. Keep a plain-text sample beside the logo brief.
Check each handoff surface
| Surface | Review | Failure example |
|---|---|---|
| Raster concept | Visible character shape | Accent missing |
| Editable artwork | Actual text or outline matches | Substitute character inserted |
| Copy record | Approved Unicode spelling | Plain-letter fallback invented |
| Application example | Accent remains visible | Crop clips the mark |
A filename can use a practical agreed convention, but it should not become the source of truth for the public brand spelling. Keep the canonical text in a clear handoff document.
Use the concept as a direction, not a spelling authority
Enter the approved name in Logo studio with the business and vision. Review the output for missing marks and altered characters. Develop the selected concept in an external design workflow that supports the required glyphs and appropriate licensing. Itemlume does not supply font compatibility or localization verification.
If the logo uses outlines, keep the approved plain text separately. Outlines preserve shapes but do not make the spelling machine-readable. An artwork file and a textual name record serve different handoff needs.
Test cropping and small applications
Place the final mark in actual header, avatar and packaging contexts. Check the upper and lower character marks as well as the base letters. A crop that preserves the word’s body but removes an accent can change the public name.
Use font handoff for editable assets and application versions for constrained layouts. Record any approved alternate spelling by use case instead of allowing each editor to invent one.

No. Keep the exact text spelling separately.
Can a crop change the name?
