Which Lightroom Classic Enhance Tool Accepts My Product Photo?
Choose Lightroom Classic Enhance by the actual input and task. Adobe’s May 1, 2026 guide gives Raw Details, Denoise and Super Resolution different eligibility rules: a JPEG can qualify for Super Resolution while not qualifying for Raw Details. Also check image dimensions, previous enhancement and editing order before evaluating the output; a larger pixel count does not authenticate product detail.
Check Input Eligibility Before Choosing the Tool
A mosaic raw file contains the camera sensor’s patterned color samples before they have been reconstructed into a full-color image. Raw Details is limited to supported Bayer or X-Trans mosaic files. A filename ending in DNG is not enough to establish that structure.
The following table summarizes the cited May 1, 2026 guide. Its examples are not the entire compatibility list; verify the actual source and available version rather than treating every raw-related file as interchangeable.
| Feature | Documented input examples and exclusions | Decision it serves |
|---|---|---|
| Raw Details | Supported Bayer or X-Trans mosaic; excludes JPEG, TIFF, HEIC, linear DNG and Smart Previews | Mosaic detail processing |
| Denoise | Includes supported mosaic raw, Linear DNGs including Lightroom/Camera Raw HDR or panorama DNGs, and smart DNG proxies; consult the full list | Noise reduction, subject to actual file eligibility |
| Super Resolution | Supports Raw Details input types plus JPEG and TIFF; also subject to the size and prior-enhancement limits below | Two times width and height, four times pixel count |

Check Dimensions and Previous Enhancement
The cited guide excludes Super Resolution inputs above 128 MP or with either width or height greater than 32,500 pixels. Record both dimensions and total pixel count. Being below these thresholds does not by itself prove compatibility or that the required product detail will survive.
The same guide says an image can be enhanced only once and that Denoise, Raw Details or Super Resolution cannot be reapplied to an already enhanced image. Record the source’s processing history; do not propose repeatedly stacking those operations as a documented remedy.
For a qualifying JPEG that needs a larger layout, Super Resolution is the relevant feature to evaluate. For a noisy eligible source, assess Denoise. Neither noise reduction nor a mathematical increase in pixels proves recovery of authentic lettering, reflections or material detail.
Plan One Eligible Operation and Observe Its Output
Proposed comparison, not executed Lightroom processing: identify the actual file type and history, record input width, height and pixel count, then choose the eligible operation that addresses the task. Preserve the approved source and record an unsupported or unknown input instead of assuming another Enhance command will work.
Adobe recommends Denoise before AI masking and Remove. This sequence concerns those later edits; it is not permission to run multiple Enhance operations on a previously enhanced image. Review the actual output dimensions and product details before continuing local cleanup.
Plan editing order without assuming one output behavior
The current official documentation contains both newer Detail panel guidance and older enhanced-DNG instructions. Do not assume every current enhancement operation necessarily creates a new DNG or follows one universal output path.
Record the available workflow and actual result rather than promising one universal enhanced-DNG output. If eligibility, processing history or product detail cannot be confirmed, leave the corresponding stage unresolved and obtain a better source or revise the delivery brief.
For later reuse of adjustments, use the selective settings-copy guide to distinguish copied settings from this input-eligibility decision.

| Previous enhancement or unknown history | |
| Chosen feature and verified eligibility | |
| Required later AI masking or Remove and planned order | |

Recorded source-review dates are listed individually below. An undated source does not inherit the article’s publication date. Software and platform rules can change; check the current original before acting.
Frequently asked questions
Why is Raw Details unavailable for my supplier JPEG?
Raw Details requires supported Bayer or X-Trans mosaic information. JPEG does not contain the qualifying mosaic input for that workflow.
Does Super Resolution recover genuine detail that was missing from the original product photograph?
It increases width and height by a factor of two, producing four times as many pixels. That does not guarantee recovery of authentic previously missing product details.
