Product videos / PRACTICAL CHECK
How to keep product states consistent between separately generated clips
Approve each clip independently, then check the product at every planned join. Using the same first image or product name does not guarantee that separate generations preserve every label, part and state. Itemlume generates individual short single shots; a multi-shot advertisement and its continuity checks belong to an external editing workflow.
Define what must remain the same
Create a compact identity record with the exact SKU, edition, color, label layout, included components and visible configuration. Separate these facts from style choices such as background or lighting. A setting may change between shots, but the product should not quietly become another variant. Use real reference photographs to settle differences rather than choosing whichever generation appears more polished.
In an illustrative kettle campaign, one generated clip introduces the brushed-metal body and another shows the spout. The genuine kettle has a black handle and a single lid button. Those features must remain consistent even when the backgrounds differ. Record the closed-lid state too, because the second shot could otherwise imply the kettle opens in a different way.
Compare the boundaries before building a montage
View the selected exit frame of the first clip beside the selected entry frame of the next. Check the product identity and state before adjusting transition timing. A cut can make differences obvious; a dissolve can briefly create two handles or two labels. Neither transition is a reason to accept an incompatible product representation.
Next, watch both clips at normal speed in their intended order. The apparent change may emerge only during the move, such as a spout that lengthens before the cut. Check the entire retained interval, not just two matching boundary frames. Preserve the real kettle reference nearby so an attractive transition does not become the authority for its dimensions.
Resolve differences according to their meaning
| Difference across clips | Review decision | Permitted next step |
|---|---|---|
| Background or camera angle changes | Judge whether the edit remains clear | Keep a deliberate contextual cut |
| Different handle, label or component | Treat as an identity mismatch | Replace the incompatible passage |
| Closed item cuts to open item | Is it a time jump or the same continuous event? | Use evidence or make the time change clear |
| Only color treatment differs | Compare both with the real finish | Adjust externally only without misrepresenting color |
The table is an editorial aid, not an automatic matching feature. A deliberate change of location can be acceptable while a small change to a necessary part is not.
Keep scene continuity separate from product proof
Different lighting can be a deliberate editorial choice; it cannot excuse an invented attachment or marking. Creatify’s production discussion identifies inconsistent brand elements as a generated-ad issue. Our practical response is to compare each retained product view with the same authoritative evidence, rather than assuming a shared generation brief locks its identity.
Do not solve a mismatch by cropping away every identifying feature. If the chosen clips no longer let viewers recognize the item, the montage may fail its purpose even though the disputed parts disappear. For the kettle, replace the second shot with verified detail photography or create a simpler new source after identifying what caused the conflict.
Approve the assembled sequence as another deliverable
Save the clean clips and label the final assembly separately. Record the retained source intervals, joins and product-state changes. Approval of each source does not approve the combined story: neighboring shots, captions and sound can imply a transformation or function that neither clip was meant to demonstrate by itself.
Give a reviewer the whole export and the identity record. Ask them to follow the product through the edit without relying on filenames or production history. Fix any unexplained change before multiplying formats. Itemlume does not currently guarantee cross-generation continuity or automatically assemble a montage from several submitted video tasks.

Frequently asked questions
Does reusing a first image guarantee matching clips?
No. Inspect each generation and the retained intervals against the same real product reference.
Can a dissolve hide a variant mismatch?
A transition does not make different product facts compatible; it may create additional visual confusion.
Do separately approved clips need another review together?
Yes. Their joins and surrounding messages can create a new product story that needs approval.
