Packaging studio / QUESTION GUIDE
How do you design a hanging pack for its actual retail display?
Start from the actual hanging structure and display orientation, not a standing-box mockup. Identify what remains visible when the pack hangs beside similar products. An attractive AI tab does not establish load capacity, peg compatibility or the correct physical cutout; confirm those details with the supplier.
Record the display conditions
Obtain the proposed structure and a real example of the retailer’s display where available. Identify the orientation, visible front and information that must remain legible. A pack that tilts or hangs at another height can obscure the headline even when the isolated render looks balanced.
For an illustrative small accessory pouch, the hanging tab sits above the main label area. Do not assume that the tab can carry a heavy product because its shape resembles a familiar retail hook pack.
Map display constraints
| Constraint | Evidence | Design decision |
|---|---|---|
| Hanging cutout | Supplier drawing | Keep structure separate from decoration |
| Front orientation | Physical sample | Place primary information accordingly |
| Adjacent packs | Actual display context | Check visual separation |
| Load and fit | Supplier confirmation | Do not infer from a render |
This worksheet does not supply peg-hole dimensions or structural engineering. Use the requirements for the actual pack and intended retailer.
Generate a view that shows the display role
In Packaging studio, select the supported structure most relevant to the concept and describe the hanging presentation. Treat any generated cutout as illustrative until mapped to the supplier template. Keep the brand, variant and product identification readable below the tab.
If the workbench lacks the exact hanging structure, use the concept only to discuss artwork direction and commission the exact mockup elsewhere. Do not claim a standard retail fit from a visually similar template.
Approve the hanging sample
Inspect the sample in the intended orientation with neighboring packs or an equivalent review arrangement. Check whether the top edge, tab or another product hides key information. Photograph the approved display for marketing rather than relying on a generated standing view to represent it.
Use display orientation for front decisions and sample approval for release. Keep artwork approval and structural approval as separate recorded decisions.

Frequently asked questions
Does a generated tab prove the pack can hang safely?
No. Confirm the physical structure with the supplier.
Should I use a standing-box preview?
It may not represent the real hanging orientation.
What if the exact structure is unavailable?
Use the concept for visual direction and obtain an exact external mockup or sample.
