Logo studio / PRACTICAL GUIDE
How to review an AI logo and prepare a vector design handoff
Review the image as a logo, not as a beautiful presentation. Check the name, plain silhouette and small-size use, then document the selected idea for further design. An AI-generated raster image is not automatically a usable SVG or a complete brand identity.
Remove presentation effects from the decision
Mockups, shadows and textured backgrounds can make a weak mark appear convincing. Look at the actual form and lettering. Imagine it in one flat color on a product label or a small account avatar. If the idea depends on lighting effects, it may not survive practical use.
The selected concept’s explanation is a useful starting point: it should tell a designer what the form represents and why it belongs to the brand. Treat that explanation as an intention to test rather than a claim that the mark is unique, registered or instantly recognizable.
Perform four practical checks
| Check | Test | Reject when |
|---|---|---|
| Spelling | Read each character against the approved brand name | Letters are missing, merged or changed |
| Silhouette | View at small size and in one color | Essential detail disappears |
| Hierarchy | Compare symbol, name and any descriptor | The name cannot be read or competes with decoration |
| Brand relation | Explain the connection without a long story | The rationale fits almost any company |
Test both a horizontal use and a compact use if you need them. You may need a separate symbol or wordmark arrangement rather than stretching one raster image into every placement. Keep clear space around the mark during review.
Prepare a useful handoff package
- Selected image and concept name, with the brand brief.
- A short explanation of the intended business, audience and vision association.
- Preferred colors and the intended light, dark and single-color uses.
- Required placements, such as label, box, website header and small avatar.
- Known issues to correct, including lettering, alignment or fine detail.
Ask the designer to rebuild and refine the geometry, typography and spacing in vector form. Renaming a PNG to SVG or embedding it inside an SVG container does not make its shapes editable vector artwork. Automatic tracing can also preserve visual mistakes, so evaluate the result rather than only its file extension.
Complete identity checks before adoption
Review the developed mark in real layouts, alongside product copy and packaging. Check relevant existing marks and obtain appropriate professional help for formal clearance where needed. AI generation does not establish ownership or trademark availability.
Keep an approved master and usage instructions once the design is finalized. My assets can organize the generated concept, but the external vector master, font licenses and production specifications belong in your wider brand asset workflow. This separates a useful exploration tool from the professional finishing work needed for consistent use.

Frequently asked questions
Does Itemlume output a production vector logo automatically?
The current logo image workflow generates raster artwork. Develop proper vector shapes and typography in a suitable design workflow.
Can I use a generated image as a concept reference?
Yes. Keep its selected direction and brand rationale with it so a designer can refine the intended idea.
What is the fastest way to spot a weak logo?
Check the exact name, reduce the mark to a small plain silhouette and ask whether its meaning is specific to the brand.
