REFERENCE TROUBLESHOOTING / Product images
How do I stop AI from inventing text on an e-reader screen?
Prepare a legible actual screen state and distinguish screen content from the device frame. If the source contains residual page marks, resolve the capture state using the device’s own guidance rather than asking AI to invent cleaner text. Review the photographed content and physical display boundaries separately.
Identify what the reference actually proves
A pale e-paper display can be mistaken for a blank printable surface. AI may replace a real page with generic paragraphs, add backlight-like glow or merge faint residual marks into new characters. The source may also contain reflections or a previous screen state. These observations do not by themselves diagnose a defective device. The production task is to obtain an understandable reference, not to claim that a generated screen proves refresh performance.
Prepare the evidence before generating
- Choose a screen you may legitimately reproduce, avoiding personal accounts or private reading history. Follow the device maker’s normal instructions for displaying and refreshing that screen.
- Photograph the actual device with readable content and a clear bezel. Add a front-facing view if the styled angle makes the page difficult to inspect.
- Record whether any residual marks are visible in the genuine capture. If unclear, obtain another supported screen state instead of manually inventing missing letters.
- Use the actual content as the authority in a limited scene change. Review page placement, margins, orientation and display appearance together.
Example creative request and a review matrix
Illustrative request: Place this e-reader on a neutral desk while preserving the actual photographed screen and device frame. Keep page orientation, margins, visible controls and bezel unchanged. Do not replace the text with invented paragraphs, add a glowing LCD appearance or claim a different screen state from the selected reference.
| Observed symptom | Evidence to inspect | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| New paragraphs appear despite a fixed reference | Compare actual page landmarks and margins | Reject invented content |
| The screen glows beyond its bezel | Check the real display reference | Reject unsupported appearance |
| Faint marks are treated as printed text | Compare another genuine screen capture | Resolve the source before generation |
Make the release decision
For text-heavy screens, retaining the real display pixels in a suitable external composition may be more dependable than generating the page. Label simulated screen content if used for an explicitly illustrative concept. This guide does not diagnose refresh behavior, promise zero ghosting or verify display specifications. Where screen quality is a buying factor, supply genuine photographs or appropriate measured evidence.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use AI to prove that an e-reader has no ghosting?
No. A generated screen is not a display-performance test. Use genuine, documented observations and the manufacturer’s guidance for that question.
