Why did my dubbed product-ad download lose the original 4K picture specification?

Separate the dubbed preview from the original picture master

ElevenLabs distinguishes its dubbed video preview from a production master; accepting a 4K source is not an output-resolution promise. Treat that review file as a separate artifact from your approved original picture.

For a merchant, this distinction matters when the original advertisement contains small packaging claims, ingredient text, fine fabric details, or product labels. A preview may communicate the translated message adequately without satisfying the picture requirements of a marketplace, agency, or retail display.

Keep three deliverables conceptually separate: the approved original picture master, the translated-language audio, and the combined review preview. Record which asset is authoritative for visual quality. Upscaling or remuxing a lower-resolution preview does not recover original picture detail.

Choose the correct approval branch before production

Branch A — translation approval only: use the dubbed preview to evaluate whether the translated message relates correctly to the scenes. A reviewer can identify questionable wording, scene-to-speech mismatches, or narration that appears to extend beyond a product demonstration. This approval does not certify final resolution, label readability, or the production master.

Branch B — actual 4K delivery: preserve the original picture master and plan an external post-production handoff using the confirmed translated-language audio. The final editor must establish the approved language mix, timing, channel specification, and picture settings rather than treating the preview download as the finished advertisement.

Illustrative exercise: imagine a 4K skincare advertisement containing a close-up of a 30 mL label. For Branch A, record whether the translation correctly describes the bottle. For Branch B, require a separate check that the original label remains readable in the final picture master. These are different acceptance decisions.

Clarify what the translated audio must replace

Dubbing v2 supplies one lossless audio file with at most stereo support, rather than guaranteed editable speaker, music and effects stems. Do not assume a surround mix survives translation.

Before handoff, inventory the original advertisement's dialogue, narration, background music, sound effects, and intentional silence. Ask the editor to establish what the delivered translated file actually contains and which original elements should remain.

If the original picture master already carries voices and music, blindly adding another complete track risks doubled dialogue, repeated music or an unintended mix. Ask the editor to inspect the actual translated file before deciding what to replace.

Approve the translated advertisement against two contracts

The language contract should identify the target language, approved product claims, required pronunciation, intended narration timing, and responsible reviewer. The picture contract should identify the authoritative original master, required resolution, label legibility, frame composition, and delivery owner.

Ask for separate sign-offs: one for translation and scene relevance, another for the final combined master. A translation reviewer should not silently become responsible for technical picture certification.

The final handoff should specify the approved mix, required audio channels, and any unresolved differences between preview and master. This prevents a visually downgraded review file from being mislabeled as the approved 4K advertisement.
