Virtual try-on / PUBLISHING WORKFLOW
Can I remove clothing wrinkles without erasing the designed pleats?
Smoothing every fold can change the product. Identify which creases are accidental and which belong to the garment before preparing or editing its photograph.
Build a keep-and-correct reference
A fictional seller, Vale Thread, needs a clean photo of a pleated skirt that arrived folded for shipping. Its repeated pleats are intentional; one transverse packing crease is not. Photograph the actual garment and add a detail view showing how the designed folds attach at the waistband. Mark the unwanted crease in a separate reviewer annotation rather than guessing from a low-resolution thumbnail.
Classify uncertain areas as unresolved. Gathering, seam puckering, crinkled fabric and designed pleats are not interchangeable with accidental storage wrinkles. Confirm the intended appearance with the actual garment or supplier evidence. A smooth replacement image should never become the evidence used to decide what the original design was.
Choose preparation or editing deliberately
Where appropriate, prepare the physical garment according to its confirmed care instructions and photograph it again. Do not infer safe steaming or pressing from an AI image. If using an external retouching workflow, give the editor the keep-and-correct reference and ask for one controlled trial instead of a general instruction to make everything smooth.
Photoroom documents an Ironing tool that smooths clothing from a source image. That is a competitor feature, not an Itemlume control. Its existence establishes a practical editing workflow; it does not prove that every designed fold will survive. Pixelcut’s clothing photography guide provides broader preparation context.
Review construction and texture after the change
| Area | Keep | Reject |
|---|---|---|
| Waistband | Actual pleat attachment and gathering | Invented evenly spaced joins |
| Skirt body | Designed fold rhythm and fabric texture | A flat sheet replacing the pleats |
| Packing crease | Only the approved local correction | Changed hem or silhouette nearby |
These rows describe the illustrative skirt, not all garments. Compare the trial against the untouched source and detail reference at the same visible size. Check the hem, seams, print and silhouette as well as the edited region. Save a rejection note if the transverse crease disappears but the pleat construction changes. A cleaner image can still depict the wrong product.
Keep the approved scope with the final asset
Store the original photograph, annotated edit request and reviewed output together. Record which area was corrected and which design features were preserved. If the source does not resolve a fold, take another photograph rather than asking the editor to invent the missing construction. Use an actual garment reference for fit or drape claims; visual smoothing is not a physical performance test.
In Itemlume’s fashion workflow, state the verified pleat and texture requirements and compare any generated result with the source. Itemlume has no dedicated automatic ironing control, and prompt wording does not guarantee preservation. Use the garment-reference guide to improve unclear evidence, and reject results that flatten the design.
Use the production artwork handoff worksheet as a manual review record. Sample rows are fictional. It does not connect to, import into or modify an external store or production machine.

Frequently asked questions
Should every visible fold be removed from a listing photo?
No. Confirm whether it is an accidental crease, designed pleat, gathering or actual fabric texture before changing it.
Does Itemlume offer the Ironing control described here?
No. The cited Ironing workflow belongs to Photoroom. Itemlume results still need source-based garment review.
Can a smoothing prompt guarantee the pleats stay accurate?
No. Compare the output with the actual garment and reject changed construction even when the result looks polished.
