PRODUCT CREATIVE / PRODUCTION AND HANDOFF
Why does my duplicated product image stay unchanged after Kittl finishes its AI area edit?
Kittl Edit Area updates the source image object that received the editing request. If you copy, cut, or duplicate that image while generation is running, the resulting copy retains the original content. It is not subscribed to the pending AI result. Decide whether you need several copies of the completed edit or an intentional before-and-after comparison.
Identify which image owns the pending edit
A merchant may start correcting the decorative background of a packaging photograph, then duplicate the image into three advertisement layouts while the AI task continues.
When the task finishes, the original source image may receive the edited content while the duplicates still display the earlier photograph. This is the documented ownership behavior, not necessarily a failed generation.
Edit Area works on a selected image object rather than an entire group or artboard. Its processing can continue in the background while other design work proceeds.
Copies made during that processing are separate objects retaining the original image content. They do not automatically inherit the pending result.
Before duplicating an image for campaign variants, distinguish the object receiving the AI edit from the objects intended to reuse its finished pixels.
Choose whether the campaign needs the finished or earlier state
If three advertisements must share the same corrected packaging image, wait until the source object's Edit Area operation has finished and the visible result has been reviewed. Then use that completed image as the intended source for subsequent layouts.
If the merchant wants a before-and-after comparison, a duplicate made during processing may retain the earlier appearance. Label it as the original state rather than presenting it as a completed AI variation.
These are different production goals. One requires distributing an approved finished result; the other requires retaining an earlier visual state.
Do not assume that duplicating an unfinished object establishes a live connection to its future result. Likewise, the documented behavior does not establish automatic refresh across unrelated boards or previously exported assets.
The important decision is when an image becomes eligible for reuse, not how many copies appear on the canvas.
Illustrative exercise: campaign reuse versus comparison
Illustrative exercise with fictional merchant inputs. No Kittl operation, AI generation or image-quality test was executed.
Input A is a tea-packaging photograph undergoing an Edit Area correction. The merchant needs the same corrected presentation in three advertisements with different promotional messages.
The appropriate branch is to wait for the source image's completed result, review it, and only then prepare the three campaign layouts from that approved state.
Input B is a cosmetics advertisement where the team wants to compare the previous background with the newly generated version.
A copy created during generation may retain the earlier content. The team should label that copy as the before state and identify the original source object as the recipient of the pending edit.
Neither example establishes that every future copy or linked project automatically updates.
Interpret completion and further editing correctly
Kittl documents a completion indication for the edited source image. A brief delay between the end of loading and the visible update can occur, so an apparent pause is not by itself a reason to submit another generation request.
Review the completed source before deciding whether another operation is necessary. The interface displays the relevant model-token cost before generation; do not assume repeated requests are free.
Edit Area generates new pixels rather than simply restoring existing cutout pixels. Its Undo behavior reverts the entire submitted edit, not one individual change within that operation.
If the merchant needs to revise only one aspect of a completed result, define the next edit separately rather than treating the earlier request as a collection of independently reversible changes.
Completion means the intended campaign objects have been deliberately created from the correct image state, with earlier-state copies clearly distinguished.

These are illustrative exercise rows. Save a copy and record your own observations; the example is not an executed acceptance test.
| Fictional task | Copy timing | Required image state | Merchant decision | Completion condition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A: Three tea advertisements | Reuse planned while Edit Area is running | Same completed packaging correction | Wait for source completion and review before reusing the result | All three layouts intentionally use the approved finished image |
| B: Cosmetics before-and-after comparison | Duplicate created during generation | Earlier image alongside completed edit | Label duplicate as original state and identify the edited source separately | Before and after objects are not confused |

Frequently asked questions
Will a duplicate created while Edit Area is generating receive the finished edit?
No. Kittl documents that copies, cuts, and duplicates made during generation retain the original content. Only the source object receives the finished edit.
Should I immediately submit another generation if loading ends but the image still looks unchanged?
Not solely for that reason. The documented workflow can have a short delay before the source image visibly updates. Confirm its completion state before considering another request.
