PRODUCT CREATIVE / PRODUCTION AND HANDOFF

Why Does My Final Photoroom AI Shot List Image Look Different From the Suggested Preview?

An AI Shot List preview is a suggestion before generation, not the finished product image. Photoroom documents that generated images can differ from previews, particularly for Detail and Lifestyle shots. Treat preview selection, generated-image approval, and store publication as three separate production decisions.

Identify Which Stage the Preview Represents

In the Shopify-connected Photoroom Web product-catalog workflow, AI Shot List presents suggested images before generation. Selecting a suggestion expresses creative intent; it does not approve an already completed deliverable. Generate uses AI credits.

Before generating, record why each suggestion was chosen. A Detail suggestion might be intended to emphasize a closure, while a Lifestyle suggestion might establish a usage context. The approval question at this stage is whether the proposed direction serves the listing, not whether its final pixels are accurate.

Review the Generated Image Independently

After generation, compare the actual result with the approved product information and the purpose of the selected suggestion. Do not reject every visual difference automatically: a changed decorative arrangement may be acceptable, while an altered product component may require further review.

Additional product photographs showing other angles can provide useful reference material. However, supplying more views does not guarantee that an unseen surface will be reproduced accurately. If the listing depends on a specific back-panel detail, use approved source evidence rather than relying on the suggestion alone.

Decision branch: Accept harmless creative differences when the brief permits them. Hold the image when product identity, required details, or the intended selling message cannot be verified.

Illustrative Exercise: Two Suggested Shots

Illustrative exercise — fictional merchant requests, not executed Photoroom generations or Shopify account operations. Input A is a Detail suggestion for a handbag clasp. Input B is a Lifestyle suggestion showing the same handbag in a café.

For A, the reviewer needs an approved clasp reference before accepting the generated detail. For B, the reviewer can allow changes in surrounding décor while checking that the handbag remains suitable for the advertisement.

Separate Product-Catalog Addition From Publication

Generated images are initially added to the product in Photoroom. Publication is the separate action that adds them to the connected Shopify store. An image appearing in the editor therefore does not establish that customers can see it.

Use three approval states: suggestion selected, generated result approved, and store publication authorized. Record the responsible reviewer for each transition.

Before publishing, check the actual generated image against its intended listing and approved product evidence. After publication, verify the intended storefront placement through the team's normal release process.

This workflow concerns generation-stage differences, not confusion between an already approved file and a later download.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions

Does choosing a Shot List preview guarantee that generation will reproduce it exactly?

No. Photoroom explicitly documents possible differences between suggestions and generated images, especially for Detail and Lifestyle shots.

Does generating an image automatically publish it to Shopify?

No. Generation adds the image to the product in Photoroom. Publication is a separate step for adding it to the connected store.
