Product videos / PRACTICAL GUIDE
How to turn a product video idea into an approved storyboard
Begin with a product fact, one viewer goal and one simple action. Itemlume expands the idea into a storyboard you can review before generating video. Keep the storyboard within the current short, silent, single-shot workflow instead of treating it as an automatically produced multi-scene commercial.
Make the idea specific enough to direct
“Make a premium advertisement” leaves the important decisions unresolved. A more useful brief for a desk lamp is: show the lamp illuminating a quiet workspace, draw attention to the adjustable head, and finish with a clear product view. This names the subject, action and outcome without inventing a technical claim.
Enter the real product name, verified facts, audience, market, idea and any exclusions. Choose a visual direction, goal, pace and camera preference that serve that idea. State whether people are needed. If they add no useful demonstration, a product-only scene is easier to keep clear.
Review the plan before the expensive step
| Storyboard element | What to approve |
|---|---|
| Opening | The product is recognizable and the starting frame is achievable |
| Action | One simple movement demonstrates the intended idea |
| Camera | The movement reveals rather than hides the item |
| Ending | A stable hold leaves the product readable |
| Exclusions | No unsupported claims, invented accessories or unsafe use |
The workbench separates planning from video generation. Read the proposed sequence and confirm the concept before starting the video. If you change the brief or duration after planning, create a matching updated plan rather than submitting a stale one.
Start from a frame you have already approved
The video workflow uses a first image to guide the clip. Review the product, background and any person in that image before animating it. A wrong cap or distorted hand in the starting frame is not a detail the video should be expected to repair.
- Open Product videos and add the product reference or an approved generated image.
- Describe the idea and select duration, ratio and other settings.
- Expand it into a storyboard, then read and revise the plan.
- Confirm video generation only when the plan and starting image match.
Plan for finishing outside the generator
Current clips are 720p and do not generate audio. Treat the storyboard’s phases as development within one shot, rather than separate cuts automatically assembled into a film. Add captions, music, voiceover and final campaign layout in your editing workflow.
Review the completed clip frame by frame around product interactions and the closing hold. Check for drifting labels, changing dimensions and altered components. Keep the approved scene and plan with the result so a later variation changes one decision rather than starting from a vague request again.

Frequently asked questions
Can I review the storyboard without immediately making a video?
Yes. Planning and video generation are separate steps. Confirm the video only after reviewing the plan and its quoted cost.
Does this reproduce an uploaded reference video?
No. The current tool develops product ideas into a first-frame video. Reference-video cloning is not part of this workflow.
Will the generated clip include voiceover or music?
No. Current video generation is silent; add audio in post-production.
