Product videos / DEEP-DIVE GUIDE

What to do when a product storyboard needs assets you do not have

Treat a preparation note as an unresolved production requirement. Decide whether to supply the missing evidence, simplify the idea or use another production method before approving the video. A sentence that asks for a person or an open package does not place that element in the uploaded first frame.

01 / WHAT TO DO WHEN A PRODUCT STORYBOARD NEEDS ASSETS YOU DO NOT HAVE

Turn each preparation note into a yes-or-no question

A plan may say that the label must be readable, a model must already be holding the product, or the chosen surface must leave space for a small approach. Translate each note into a check against the current image. Can you read the label? Is the person present? Is the expected product state actually visible?

For a gift-box concept, distinguish a closed box from a photographed open box with verified contents. A script that starts closed and later reveals an elaborate insert has a construction dependency. A decorative packaging concept does not establish how the real lid, hinge or insert behaves. Name that missing evidence rather than simply approving a more ambitious script.

02 / WHAT TO DO WHEN A PRODUCT STORYBOARD NEEDS ASSETS YOU DO NOT HAVE

Decide whether the requirement is essential

RequirementEssential whenAlternative when it is optional
Person in the first frameThe approved message needs human contextUse a product-only material shot
Open product stateThe interior is the central subjectShow the verified closed exterior
Second locationThe campaign requires a separate use contextKeep one setting or plan an external edit
Readable exact markingThe item must be identified by that markingUse a better source rather than invented text

Do not collect new assets automatically for every suggested detail. Some notes reflect a creative choice that can be simplified. Ask which buyer question would be lost if the requirement disappeared; if there is no clear answer, remove the unnecessary complexity.

03 / WHAT TO DO WHEN A PRODUCT STORYBOARD NEEDS ASSETS YOU DO NOT HAVE

Prepare dependencies in the correct order

For an image containing a model and product, first create or obtain that combined scene and review it as a still. Then select it as the video source. Separate model and product references are useful in the image workflow, but the current video request begins from one selected first image.

Keep the product edition constant while resolving the missing scene. Replacing a blue current-model cup with a better photograph of an old black cup solves the lighting problem and introduces an identity problem. Record which source is authoritative before reviewing the revised plan. Billo similarly asks brands to include the essential script and requirements in the brief at the start. Read its briefing guidance.

04 / WHAT TO DO WHEN A PRODUCT STORYBOARD NEEDS ASSETS YOU DO NOT HAVE

Do not turn missing evidence into a confident promise

Itemlume’s text planner can explain what would be needed, but it does not inspect the first image. Its preparation notes therefore require your verification. The image-dimension check also cannot establish that the model is holding the right SKU or that an opening mechanism is physically correct.

If the advertisement depends on demonstrated performance, obtain appropriate real evidence instead of asking a generation to simulate proof. A generated liquid stream, impact or thermal effect can be visually persuasive without establishing how the real product works. Choose a production route that matches the factual claim you intend to make.

05 / WHAT TO DO WHEN A PRODUCT STORYBOARD NEEDS ASSETS YOU DO NOT HAVE

Close the requirement before confirming the paid shot

Use a small external readiness record with three columns: requirement, evidence and decision. For the gift box, one row might say open insert visible, supplier-approved photograph available, use that source and keep the box stationary. Another might say ribbon removal, no suitable source, remove that action from the concept.

Update the brief after changing the plan and review the matching storyboard before video generation. Keep unresolved requirements visible to the person approving the spend. This is a practical production gate, not an automatic quality certification. It reduces the chance of paying to generate a shot whose essential starting conditions never existed.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions

Must I create every prop suggested by the storyboard?

No. Decide whether it is essential to the message. Simplifying an optional requirement can be the better production decision.

Does the preparation list confirm that my image is ready?

No. It is a set of conditions for you to verify against the actual source.

Can separate model and product references replace the combined video source?

The video request starts from one selected first image. Prepare and inspect a combined scene first if the approved concept requires the model and product together.
