REFERENCE TROUBLESHOOTING / Product images
How do I show reflective shoe details without making the whole shoe glow?
Use an actual ordinary-light photograph and a clearly identified reflective-effect photograph of the same shoe. Map the reflective trim’s real boundaries. A generated glow should not spread onto ordinary material or become evidence of visibility performance under unspecified conditions.
Identify what the reference actually proves
Reflective trim may appear modest in ambient light and bright when illumination returns toward the camera. AI can misread that bright strip as a permanently luminous surface or apply the effect to nearby stitching and panels. A single effect photograph does not explain the shoe’s ordinary appearance. Keep the two capture conditions explicit so the image set does not imply that the product emits light by itself.
Prepare the evidence before generating
- Photograph the actual shoe in ordinary controlled light, keeping the trim and surrounding materials distinguishable. Record the exact variant.
- Capture the effect using an appropriate actual setup and document its relevant context. Do not invent a standardized visibility result from one photograph.
- Create a private boundary map of the trim, including interruptions at seams and edges. Keep the pair at comparable framing.
- Generate a restrained scene using the chosen condition. Compare the extent of the effect and preserve ordinary material outside the mapped region.
Example creative request and a review matrix
Illustrative request: Show this shoe in the documented reflective-effect condition. Keep the bright response limited to the actual trim shown in the paired references. Preserve surrounding fabric, stitching and sole. Do not make the whole shoe glow, add a light-emitting panel or imply visibility at a distance absent from verified evidence.
| Observed symptom | Evidence to inspect | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Brightness spreads across ordinary fabric | Compare the trim boundary map | Reject expanded effect coverage |
| The shoe appears self-illuminated | Check the documented lighting context | Clarify or remove the implication |
| The ordinary-light colorway changes | Compare the ambient reference | Preserve the actual variant |
Make the release decision
Use the genuine paired photographs where the effect is a buying feature, with context sufficient to understand them. Visual marketing approval does not certify visibility, protective function or performance in all conditions. If the effect cannot remain localized, omit it from the generated scene rather than exaggerating it. Keep verified specifications and any applicable product claims separate from the illustrated appearance.

Frequently asked questions
Can a glowing AI image prove reflective performance?
No. Use actual, appropriately documented evidence for the relevant performance claim. A generated effect is a presentation, not a measurement.
