How to resolve conflicting feedback on AI product creative
Do not paste contradictory feedback into the next generation request. First decide whether each comment concerns a product fact, a delivery requirement or a preference. Resolve that disagreement with the appropriate evidence and decision owner, then describe one coherent change for the next version.
Find the type of disagreement before choosing a winner
A merchandising reviewer may say that the advertisement must show both items in a bundle. A marketer may request an extreme close-up of one cap. These are not automatically equal preferences. The bundle composition is a factual requirement if the asset represents that offer; the close-up is a proposed way to attract attention.
Other disagreements concern delivery. An editor might reject a camera approach because it leaves no readable space for the approved caption at the required crop. That is different from disliking the camera movement. Naming the type of disagreement makes the discussion more useful than a vote on which version feels more premium.
Assign decisions to evidence, not to comment volume
| Comment type | Useful evidence | Suggested decision owner |
|---|---|---|
| Product fact | Authoritative SKU record or original product photo | Person responsible for product accuracy |
| Delivery constraint | Actual crop, placement and output requirement | Person producing the destination asset |
| Creative preference | Agreed audience question and campaign purpose | Person accountable for the creative direction |
| Unverified claim | Supporting product documentation or its absence | Person responsible for approving factual copy |
These are suggested project roles, not collaboration features that Itemlume assigns automatically. One person may hold several roles in a small business. The important step is to identify who can resolve a particular question and what information they should use.
Use the asset’s job to resolve the remaining preference
Return to the purpose of this exact asset. If it must identify a two-piece gift set, preserve enough of the set to make that clear. If a separate awareness asset can focus on the cap without implying a different offer, that can become an independently reviewed variation. Do not force every stakeholder’s desired moment into one short clip.
When a decision remains subjective, record the chosen direction and the question a later comparison would test. Avoid presenting an unrun test as evidence. Two people preferring different backgrounds does not establish which background customers will respond to, and generating both does not itself produce a meaningful performance comparison.
Write a resolution that another person can follow
Keep a short decision record outside the workbench: original request, relevant evidence, decision owner, chosen resolution and affected part of the creative. For the bundle example, the resolution might preserve a complete view at the end while rejecting a proposed crop that hides the second item. State which suggestion was declined and why.
Replace ambiguous comments such as make it clearer with an observable change. For a still, that might mean maintaining visible separation between two products. For a clip, it might mean keeping the exact package marking unobscured during the approved ending. A resolved instruction should not contain both keep the camera fixed and orbit around the item.
Billo recommends placing essential requirements in the original brief. Apply that briefing discipline to the revised decision record so the next contributor does not work from an obsolete side conversation. Billo’s briefing guidance.
Review the resolution without reopening every settled choice
Ask the reviewer to check the agreed change and any product facts it could affect. A request to improve label readability can legitimately alter framing, but it should not quietly change the SKU, included accessories or approved claim. If new evidence introduces a different requirement, treat it as a new decision rather than pretending it was part of the previous agreement.
Keep rejected alternatives separate from the approved source. This preserves the reasoning for later adaptations and prevents another person from choosing a visually appealing but factually unsuitable version. The aim is a clear next decision, not unanimous enthusiasm about every design detail.

Frequently asked questions
Should every reviewer’s suggestion be included?
No. Resolve factual and delivery requirements first, then choose creative preferences according to the job of the asset.
Is a second version always the best way to settle a disagreement?
No. A second paid generation is useful only if it answers a defined question that the current evidence cannot resolve.
Who should decide when a preference conflicts with a product fact?
Resolve the fact using authoritative product evidence first. Then choose a creative direction that respects it rather than voting to change the represented product.
