Can you publish every supplier photo used in an AI brief?

Possessing a supplier photograph does not establish every use you might make of it. Check the permission or agreement that actually covers the material and distinguish private reference, edited derivatives and public distribution. Obtain clarification when the scope is unclear.

Map the intended uses

For an illustrative supplier packshot, the buyer may have received it for a product listing. A wider advertising campaign, third-party article or public training example may be a different intended use. Record the source and the actual permission terms rather than assuming that a file shared in a message is unrestricted.

Also inspect other visible material: a photographer’s watermark, another brand’s label, a person or private document in the frame. Cropping the evidence out of sight does not by itself resolve the permission question.

This is a coordination worksheet, not a legal determination. The U.S. Copyright Office permission guide provides U.S. background on identifying owners and requesting permission; it does not establish the rules for every jurisdiction or interpret your agreement. Ask the rights owner or a qualified adviser about unresolved terms.

03 / CAN YOU PUBLISH EVERY SUPPLIER PHOTO USED IN AN AI BRIEF?

Select a permitted evidence set

Use your own photographs or properly authorized supplier material. Keep private correspondence out of the public article. If permission does not cover showing the source, a separate self-owned demonstration can explain the workflow without pretending to be a customer case.

04 / CAN YOU PUBLISH EVERY SUPPLIER PHOTO USED IN AN AI BRIEF?

Retain the approval with the asset

Store the permission record under appropriate access and keep a minimal public disclosure when needed. Do not include contracts or account credentials in the public creative package. Use public-example review and safe handoff for the release.

05 / CAN YOU PUBLISH EVERY SUPPLIER PHOTO USED IN AN AI BRIEF?

A public case with separate permission

A fictional supplier provides an image for a shop listing, and the team later wants to show it in a public workflow article. Review the actual permission scope before reusing it in that new context. If publication permission is unclear, ask the rights owner or use a separately self-owned demonstration. Keep the correspondence private and record the allowed use in the asset register. The article should not present a substitute demonstration as a supplier case. This gives the editorial team a concrete route forward without inventing legal clearance.
