Credits & account / SCENARIO GUIDE
How to calculate the cost of an approved AI creative asset
Divide the actual credits spent on a defined creative task by the number of assets you approved for that task. Keep text planning, image attempts and video attempts separate where they serve different decisions. An attractive generated option is not automatically a usable asset.
Define usable before counting results
For a bottle campaign, an eligible image might need the correct variant, legible brand and a usable destination crop. A result with a beautiful background and wrong label does not count as accepted. Write the criteria before the pilot, so the cost review does not quietly include rejected work.
Keep the task narrow: one identification image, one campaign scene or one approved clip. A single image repurposed for two channels may provide extra value, but do not count it as two independently generated results. State exactly what the denominator represents.
Use a transparent illustrative calculation
| Illustrative task | Actual credits spent in the example | Accepted results |
|---|---|---|
| Five attempts at a hypothetical 10 credits each | 50 | Two approved images |
| Accepted-image cost | 50 ÷ 2 = 25 credits | Per approved image |
| No accepted output | 50 | No meaningful per-asset figure yet |
The example uses hypothetical image pricing and is not a quote. Replace it with your own recorded charges. Check the current workspace estimate and pricing page before spending; costs can differ by operation and change over time.
Record the work and billing separately
- Define the asset job and acceptance criteria in your campaign notes.
- Record attempts, outcome and actual credit activity for that task.
- Exclude rejected results from the accepted count, while retaining their actual costs.
- Calculate the cost after review and note whether further editing is still required.
Do not count a failed charge twice or assume every disappointing result receives a refund. Check the actual task and credit records. Provider failure, an unfinished job and a completed result you dislike are different states with potentially different handling.
Choose the next action from the failure pattern
If rejected results repeatedly fail on a tiny label, improving source evidence may be more useful than buying more attempts. If the problem is a dense caption, finish exact text in the appropriate editor. If the video idea needs several scenes, simplify the plan or use a different production route.
Keep the credit metric separate from cash and labor. A credit pack’s price, editing time and any external tool cost are additional inputs if you want a full production estimate. This guide does not establish an average Itemlume success rate, guaranteed cost saving or return on advertising spend.

Frequently asked questions
Is cost per generated image the same as cost per approved image?
No. Rejected attempts can make the approved-asset cost higher. Use the actual spend and accepted count.
What if no result is acceptable?
Record the spend and failure reasons. A per-approved-asset calculation is not meaningful until there is an accepted result.
Are the example charges current Itemlume prices?
No. They illustrate the calculation. Use the current displayed estimate and your real credit records.
