REFERENCE TROUBLESHOOTING / Product images
Why does a spoon bowl become flat or warped in AI product photos?
Capture the spoon’s profile as well as its reflective face. Reflections inside a concave bowl do not define its depth reliably. Review the physical edge and side silhouette separately so a dramatic highlight does not turn the bowl into a flat oval or a distorted mirror.
Identify what the reference actually proves
A polished bowl reflects a large part of its surroundings in a compressed, curved form. AI may interpret a dark reflection as a hole, move the rim to follow a highlight or flatten the bowl into the tabletop. An attractive top view alone may not explain curvature. The reference set needs a structural profile that remains useful even when the face reflection changes.
Prepare the evidence before generating
- Photograph the actual spoon from above and from a low side angle that reveals the bowl profile and handle relationship.
- Use broad controlled surroundings for the reflective face, removing distracting objects rather than asking AI to infer what is metal and what is reflected.
- Keep a clear rim detail and the complete utensil view from the same item. Avoid mixing a serving spoon with a similarly styled smaller model.
- Generate a restrained composition. Check the bowl-to-handle transition, rim contour and visible depth before judging the reflection pattern.
Example creative request and a review matrix
Illustrative request: Show this polished spoon at the supplied angle. Preserve its actual bowl depth, rim contour, handle transition and representative reflections. The side reference establishes curvature. Do not flatten the bowl, turn a dark reflected shape into a cutout or change the edge to follow an invented highlight.
| Observed symptom | Evidence to inspect | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| A dark reflection becomes a physical hole | Compare the complete bowl profile | Reject invented geometry |
| The bowl is flat despite a convincing oval outline | Inspect the side relationship | Reject lost depth |
| Rim shape follows a light streak | Compare the physical edge reference | Separate reflection from construction |
Make the release decision
A real side detail is useful when depth or form matters to the buyer. This image review does not measure capacity or assess material grade. Do not assign a volume based on a generated bowl. If a new scene repeatedly changes curvature, use the genuine utensil photograph and alter only the surrounding layout with an appropriate editing workflow.

Frequently asked questions
Should I remove every reflection from a polished spoon?
No. Reflections help describe the surface. Control them so they do not obscure structure, and use a separate profile view to establish depth.
