Credits & account / DEEP-DIVE GUIDE
Why did my generation quote change before I submitted?
A generation quote belongs to a particular operation and its current settings. If the quantity, image quality, video duration or pricing policy changes, a previously viewed number may no longer describe the request you are about to submit. Compare the request details before treating the difference as an unexpected charge.
First distinguish a quote from a completed charge
A quote explains the expected credit requirement for a proposed operation. It is not a receipt showing that the operation happened. A wallet balance or task record answers a different question: whether a request was submitted and what state it reached. Keep these questions separate when investigating a number that changed on screen.
For example, planning a storyboard and generating its video are separate actions. The video quote should not be interpreted as a second charge for merely reading the saved script. Before comparing two numbers, identify which action each one describes and whether either action has actually been submitted.
Compare scope before comparing the amount
| What to compare | A meaningful difference |
|---|---|
| Operation | A storyboard request versus video generation |
| Quantity | One requested image versus several |
| Image output selection | A different enabled quality or resolution |
| Video request | A longer selected duration |
| Quote freshness | An earlier quote versus the current pricing policy |
Use the current selections rather than remembering the defaults. A copied brief can retain an intentional duration, and switching a tool may mean that you are looking at a different kind of task. The correct comparison is the same operation with the same settings, not two nearby numbers on different screens.
Not every input changes cost. A different brand description or camera preference can change the creative direction without necessarily changing the quoted amount. Do not infer a pricing rule from a single result; use the displayed quote for the exact request.
Treat a stale quote as a decision to refresh
If the workbench says that the quote has changed or needs refreshing, review the updated amount and request details before proceeding. Do not repeatedly submit the old request in the hope that it preserves an earlier price. If the refreshed scope is more than you intended, reduce the request or postpone it.
If a task already exists, inspect that task before starting another one. A stale quote before submission and an already pending generation are different situations. Refreshing your understanding of the price should not lead to a duplicate request for work that is already underway.
Do not import another provider’s credit arithmetic
Different services use their own units, models and charging rules. Runway’s creation documentation, for example, describes model-specific output options and credit costs. Those figures are not Itemlume conversion rates and cannot determine what a request in this workbench will cost. Runway’s generation setup documentation.
Likewise, a package’s dollar price and a generation’s credit requirement answer different questions. Use the current pricing page for the offer being purchased and the workbench quote for the intended operation. This guide does not promise a fixed credit rate, membership entitlement or exchange value.
Keep a small before-and-after record if the change is unexplained
Record the tool, relevant settings, earlier displayed quote if you have it, new displayed quote and approximate time. Avoid filling gaps with guessed values. If the scope genuinely appears unchanged, this record is more useful to support than saying that the site became more expensive.
Pause before submission when the amount is not understood. If you already submitted, keep the task reference and observed status rather than testing the same request again. Review the account’s visible transaction and generation records together, and ask about the specific difference. That approach preserves a clear trail without treating every refreshed estimate as money already spent.

Frequently asked questions
Does seeing a new quote mean credits have already been deducted?
Not by itself. Check whether the corresponding generation request was submitted and inspect its task and account records.
Should changing a camera option always change the quote?
No. Creative inputs and pricing inputs are different. Use the displayed quote for the actual request rather than assuming every selection affects cost.
What if the settings appear unchanged but the quote is different?
Pause before submitting and record the tool, settings, earlier and current displayed amounts, and approximate time so the specific difference can be investigated.
