REFERENCE TROUBLESHOOTING / Product images
Why does AI turn a serrated blade into a different tooth pattern?
Supply a side profile that clearly separates the actual teeth from reflections and a detail of a complete tooth group. Review the edge profile before accepting polished metal. A more dramatic serration is a different construction, even if the handle and overall blade length look similar.
Identify what the reference actually proves
Tiny highlights along a blade can look like extra teeth. A generator may turn shallow scallops into aggressive points, smooth away alternating shapes or repeat one decorative notch across the edge. An oblique beauty shot may not show the profile well enough to prevent this. The capture should establish the actual pattern without asking a reviewer to infer cutting behavior from appearance.
Prepare the evidence before generating
- Photograph the actual item in its intended sale state with the complete blade visible. Use appropriate handling without modifying the edge for the shoot.
- Capture a clear side profile and a closer view covering a representative tooth group. Keep the edge separated from a similarly bright background.
- Identify whether a visible feature is a physical tooth, engraving or reflection by comparing supported source views. Do not invent missing geometry.
- Generate a restrained product image at a supported angle and compare the edge profile before judging surface polish.
Example creative request and a review matrix
Illustrative request: Show this referenced serrated tool at the photographed angle. Preserve the actual tooth-group profile, edge contour, tip and handle attachment. Keep metal reflections subordinate to the physical edge. Do not sharpen shallow scallops into larger points, add notches or substitute a generic saw-tooth pattern.
| Observed symptom | Evidence to inspect | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Every bright spot becomes a tooth | Compare the physical side profile | Reject reflection-derived geometry |
| Alternating groups become one repeated notch | Follow the actual group sequence | Reject normalized construction |
| A smoother edge appears more premium | Compare the approved source contour | Do not redesign the edge |
Make the release decision
A matching image does not verify cutting performance, edge durability or suitability for a task. Use the real product documentation and appropriate evidence for those statements. Where the tooth pattern matters to purchase, include the genuine profile detail. If the source cannot resolve it, recapture rather than relying on a familiar tool name to reconstruct a potentially different edge.

Frequently asked questions
Can a high-resolution output restore teeth missing from the reference?
It can create apparent detail, but not establish the actual missing geometry. Obtain a source view that resolves the edge.
